About

Gabrielle Levy is the Associate Director of Methane Gas Communications at Climate Nexus

A strategist and fluent messenger on a variety climate change and clean energy topics, Gabrielle has become a driving force behind an emergent field in climate communications in the past several years. From the launch of the Global Methane Pledge in 2021 that elevated methane to the highest levels of the climate policy debate to the civil society-driven push to make COP28 in December 2023 the “beginning of the end of fossil fuels,” Gabrielle has played an integral role in changing how we talk about one of the most important causes of the climate crisis: methane gas. From helping press navigate complex negotiations at UN meetings and in IPCC reports, to uplifting marginalized voices fighting on the frontlines of the climate crisis in the U.S. and around the world, Gabrielle is sought by advocates, partners, and members of the press as a trusted source for reliable information and a generous builder of connections, with relationships across the climate movement and media space.

Prior to joining Nexus in 2018, Gabrielle spent eight years as a reporter covering politics and policy in Washington, D.C., including Congress, the White House and two presidential elections, most recently for U.S. News and World Report. As a reporter at United Press International, she was instrumental in developing digital and social media strategies to bring a legacy organization into the digital age. During a half-year residency with Cambodia Daily in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Gabrielle reported on government corruption, human rights abuses and the impact of natural disasters on the substance farming community.

Originally from Southern California, she holds a master’s degree in journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and a bachelor’s in English and music from Tufts University. She is an avid singer and is a member of several choirs in her adopted hometown of Washington, D.C.
